In case anyone is looking for a good cause for literacy, consider participating in the Lodi Library Run & Walk on August 13, 2011 in Lodi Wisconsin. The race starts at 8 am with the start and finish line at the Lodi Elementary School on HWY 60 and Clark St in Lodi. There will be plenty of parking at the finish line.
The race benefits the Lodi Public Library, which due to the success of the past events, buys lots of reading materials. In 2010 they spend more than $30,000 on databases, books, movies, audiobooks, music and more. Lodi area patrons enjoy these resources thanks to the funds raised through this event.
The race cost is only $13 with t-shirt and $3 without a shirt. You can find forms at the Lodi Library and all checks should be made out to “Lodi Library Run and Walk.”
Not only do you have the satisfaction of besting your personal records, there are some very unique plaques that are handed out for age group winners. On top of that, for those who make the extra effort to raise pledges, there are additional prizes:
- First place mountain bike compliments of Budget Bicycle Center.
- Second place $200 gift certificate to Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort
- Third place is $100 savings bond compliments of Donna Hooker
- Fourth place is a $75 gift certificate to Dicks Sporting Goods in memory of Merle Morack
- Fifth – Eight place are various sports bags.
In the past 21 years, this Run & Walk has raised a total of over $70,000 dollars in both pledges and race fees. With almost 4,000 people who participate in the Library , they have circulated over 100,000 items annually. This is an important asset in our community and we all need to do our part to ensure it continues to thrive.
