Supporting Youth Sports
For the last 5 years Lodi Valley Dental has been providing custom made mouthguards for the Lodi HS football team. Dr. Joel Crane was instrumental in starting Mouthguard Mania, as he was involved in a similar program while in dental school.
LVD invites the entire football team to sign up for a spot in the schedule on the Friday before practice begins in the late summer – and every 15 minutes a football player walks out of the dental office with their own custom fitted mouthguard. LVD knows the risks involved in contact sports and they are committed to making sure the players’ teeth are well protected. LVD is committed to safety and good dental health in all areas of life, including the gridiron.

Gene R. Sorensen and his wife, Anita, chose to set up a dental practice here in Lodi, as this was where he spent his summers since he was a boy, and where his grandfather owned a cottage on Lake Wisconsin. Anita acted as his first office manager until the births of their three children, Lesley, Andrew, and Lindsay. She still helps out in the office behind the scenes with much of the clerical work. Dr. Sorensen often lends his knowledge as a public speaker to educate the public at the Activate Lodi Health Wellness and Safety Fair.
He is an avid outdoorsman who likes to camp, fish, hunt, golf, and explore the lake with his friends and family on his pontoon. I also happen to know that he and his family used to be great skiers.
Joel P. Crane, D.D.S. joined Dr. Gene R Sorensen’s private practice as an associate dentist in the summer of 2005. After working with Dr. Sorensen for two years, they decided to form a partnership. Together they changed the name of the office to Lodi Valley Dental LLP . Dr. Crane is dedicated to staying current with new techniques and technology as dentistry continues to evolve. To stay current in his knowledge, Dr. Crane has taken courses in digital radiology, dental implants, and sedation dentistry. In 2007, Dr. Crane became certified in Invisalign, a clear form of braces. He also completed and received certification of orthodontic study through a one and a half-year program with the Academy of Straightwire and Functional Orthodontics.
Dr. Joel Crane enjoys spending time with his wife of nearly 9 years, Katie, two daughters, a son, and soon to be fourth child. In his free time, Dr. Crane enjoys playing volleyball, softball, golfing, hunting, and fishing. Dr. Crane needs to stay in top shape for all these outside activities and he can often be found training at KR Fitness in Lodi.
