Bees Working Hard to Keep You Sweet for Your Run

Bees and Baskets logo Casenovia WI “Bees working hard to keep you sweet” is the tag line for family owned and operated Bees and Baskets Apiary. Since 1984 Dave Rassmussen and his son Tayt have provided Wisconsin Honey to area markets including locations in Lodi.

It started with two

Bee Hives in bee yard in Casenovia WI Beekeeping started with just two hives as a hobby, says Dave. But then when Tayt, then only 8,  suggested they get bigger, the operation grew each year till its present 1000 hive (approx) apiary.

Bee and Baskets is a year round effort with hives heading to California and warmer climates during the Wisconsin Winters. They pollinate Almond Orchards and other fruit and vegetable operations in the western states before coming back to Wisconsin in time to pollinate several apple orchards here.

Honey of an award

Honey for Sale Sign This year, Bees and Baskets Apiary is one of two beekeepers who have provided honey jars as part of an age group award. It was a difficult year for beekeepers, especially small apiaries. We really appreciate, Dave’s generosity in helping out as a Sponsor for the 2012 Lodi Mother’s Day Run. If you see his honey in the stores and at Lodi Meat & Sausage, you will know its a local product and buy with pride.
