Online Registration for Lodi Mother’s Day Run closes at 5 pm today

Things are looking up as we head to the run this Sunday,  Dry conditions and a low temperature of 50, highs in the 60 are the forecast.  We may really benefit for all the other early season runs having such terrible weather and hope those runners decide to come run with us. We’ll take it!

Due to logistics for the Lodi Optimist’s Mother’s Day Run, the online registration site will close at 5PM CST Friday May 6, 2011.  You can still register the day of the race, but no guarantees on shirt at this point.

Update 05/07/2011:  Registration is available day of the run so head to Lodi High School at 1100 Sauk Street for registration on Sunday beginning at 6:00 AM for 8 AM race start.  You can also register at the Mini Expo on Saturday 5-7PM at the Northern Edge Restaurant in Lodi (HWY 113 north)

Sponsor Sauk Prairie Hospital providing healthcare in our community for 30 years

When the Activate Lodi board undertook the Lodi Mother’s Day Run event with a half marathon and 5 K run, healthy lifestyles was a goal but safety would be our greatest concern.  It was Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics that stepped up to the plate to make sure we have healthcare professionals on hand,  while providing  a tent to house those services.  The Hospital and clinics in our area communities continually challenges itself to surpass the expectations of a small rural hospital.  With the recent building of a new clinic in Lodi, across from the Middle and High Schools, they bring more services and expertise to enhance the Lodi area. Students share their woodworking skills to help Lodi Mother’s Day Run

Laurent Soucie and his crew of Technology education students were asked to help with the creation of the  Lodi High School Students routing award plaquesaward plaque for the Lodi Mother’s Day Run.  With the help of the High School’s Building/Construction and Manufacturing One classes, Mr. Soucie was able to organized the creation of 160 plaques that will be laser cut by L.A. Woodcraft with the Lodi Mother’s Day Run logo. Continue reading

Need a little help with your training motivation?  How would you like to have an expert setup a training schedule for you to follow?  Want to find other like-minded people to train with for your first 5 K or half marathon? Look no further than the Run Like A Mother  Training Team.  Training starts Feb 14th 2010.

How to get the help you need

  • Weekly Group Runs on Thursday nights at 6pm (starting and stopping at Lodi High School – Pool Entrance, Lodi WI).

Coaches

Diana Karls will make sure you hear her training advice

Your coaches for this training are Diana Karls, Ultra marathoner, two-time Ironman Finisher, and extreme adventure enthusiast. When she is not training for her next big adventure Diana is the  Program Director for the YMCA Lodi Outreach Center.  Diana runs a YMCA Extreme team boot camp every morning at 5:15 am at the high school for anyone looking to get more than their running legs in shape.

Our other coach is none other than Kory Ryan, owner of KR Fitness Personal Training in Lodi.  Kory has several certifications including BS, MS, Crossfit Level I, CrossFit Endurance Certified, NSCA-CSCS, CPR-AED.

At his studio, Kory (along with 4 other trainers)  work with all levels, novice to élite and many age groups, 12 to 90 years of age. Kory enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing baseball for Poynette Home Talent in the summer, hunting, participating in other recreational sports such as basketball and triathlons, being a part of the Lodi Agricultural Fair, and living an active and healthy lifestyle.

Please dress for the weather at the time. Also remember to wear your reflective vests and blinking lights.  Running in the dark is dangerous and we always want to do everything we can to make sure drivers can see us on the road.  The group runs are for all levels especially beginners.
